Meet the founder
story
Hi, I’m Britta! I am currently a mother of three kids, and my experience working with children (both as a childcare provider and as a parent) is what led me to create InstaSit.
My very first job was babysitting. When I was in Elementary school, I went through the Red Cross Babysitting course to learn how to safely watch my neighbors’ kids. I went on to study Art Education at The University of River Falls, graduating with a K-12 lice
graduated with a Bachelors degree in Art Education from University of River Falls. My professional career is (and always will be) dedicated to working with children. Before becoming a Stay at Home Mom, I worked at a nonprofit daycare in North Minneapolis and later taught Art at Centennial Middle School.
I have been married 8 years to the man of my dreams. Currently I stay at home with our three bouncing babies, Coen (4.5), Bram (3), and Marlowe (1). An interesting fact about me is that I used to memorize every name of every kid in every one of my classes and have them move chairs to try and stump me. They never could!
During the almost no free time that I still have you can find me volunteering in the Kid’s Services at Eagle Brook Church, remodeling our house in West Bloomington, or forcing my husband to watch The Handmaid’s Tail with me (he’s hooked!).
Inspiration
As parents of three under three we’ve learned two things: 1) There are endless situations where we wished we could hire a babysitter AND have the option of only using them for a short period of time, i.e. doctor’s office, hospital visits, sitter cancellations, and Aldi runs, and 2) after reviewing the current options available for last minute child care (friend/family, employer’s back-up care, lawsuit ridden apps), none of them truly meet the on-demand needs all parents have. Now there is an option that does.
